Dear friends and family,

DRCC started 20 years ago as a coalition of community organizations that came together to oversee the clean up of the Duwamish River after it had been designated as a Superfund Site (one of the nation’s most toxic and polluted sites, made so from centuries of industrial activity). 

We initially came together to elevate the voices of those most impacted by the Duwamish River pollution, but over the course of 20 years, our mission has expanded — because environmental justice is also health, equity, climate justice, building youth leadership, advocacy, stewardship, and so much more, we want to share with you our new vision and plans! 

20 Years and Beyond: Healing, Protecting, Transforming. There are going to be so many good stories from our tribal elders, water and air protectors of the last 20 years, reflections from our young leaders, artistic and musical performances, and the unveiling of something really cool we’ve been quietly working on for the better part of the last year. (We can’t wait to show you!)

Let's Clear the Air: Seattle Port Commissioner Candidate Forum

We would like to invite you to join a conversation on October 28 with Port of  Seattle’s Port Commissioner candidates:  Hamdi Mohamed, Ryan Calkins, Stephanie Bowman, Toshiko Hasegawa, and Peter Steinbrueck as they discuss their views on pressing climate change and environmental justice issues facing our communities, especially those communities directly impacted by Port operations.  As a valued community leader and stakeholder, we want to ensure you have a seat at the virtual table – and the opportunity to ask your questions to the future leaders of Seattle.

This event is presented by and Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition and Seattle Parks Foundation but we want your voice to be heard too!  So please join us, contribute questions, and promote this to your community!

As the Rain makes its appearance in Seattle it is important to maintain clean stormwater drains and streets clean. All the rain washes up and deposits straight into our one and only river, the 𝘋𝘶𝘸𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘙𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳. Together with 𝟏𝟎𝟎 community members and volunteers, we collected 𝟕𝟐𝟑 𝐥𝐛𝐬 of garbage and 𝟐𝟓+bags of leaves within South Park and Georgetown.
